Revd Andrew Walker
COUNCIL MEMBER

Andrew Walker was ordained in 1985 and after serving in parishes in Fareham, St John's Wood and Streatham was the founder director of the London Centre for Spirituality. He is vicar at St Mary's Bourne Street, Sloane Square.He is a Psychosynthesis Counsellor and Supervisor and Director of the London based Ignatian Spirituality Course. He lists his hobbies as gardening, reading, the cinema, cooking and eating.

Revd David Sutton
VICE CHAIRMAN

David Sutton was ordained an Anglican priest in 1973, and served in parishes in his native Lancashire until 2008.Having been for many years a part-time chaplain in mental health, in 2008 he was appointed Chaplaincy/Spiritual Care Co-ordinator for Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, and has recently retired from leading a team of nine other chaplains, three of them Muslim, working in all aspects of mental health care, including forensic and adolescent psychiatry. He has been a member of SRC since the late 1980s, and is a former Chairman of the Council. He is active in spiritual direction and retreat work, and a member of the team running the Manchester Spiritual Companionship Course. As well as Ignatian spirituality, he has been influenced by the Charles de Foucauld movement and Eastern Orthodoxy. David is married with four daughters and eight grandchildren.

Revd Preb Nick Helm
Council member

Nick is an Anglican priest who has ministered in London, Sheffield and Hereford Dioceses. He's been involved in Ignatian spirituality and accompaniment training for over 20 years. He's active as a spiritual director, trainer and trainer of trainers. He's been chair of the Spiritual Exercises Network since 2012. He enjoys the outdoors, walking, climbing and being in wilderness, not least in his native South Africa.

Revd Mark Godson
SRC Chairman

Mark was ordained in 1987 and, after serving in parishes and NHS mental health chaplaincy, was Director of the London Centre for Spirituality from 2012-2016. Mark lives in the shadow of the Black Mountains on the English/Welsh border and works among the thirty nine parishes of the Abbeydore Deanery. He offers spiritual direction and supervision, and leads the Diocese in Europe formation programme for spiritual directors. Mark is a psychotherapist and a director of The Mind Clinic.

Rev Canon Susanne Carlsson
Council member

Rev Canon Susanne Carlsson is the Advisor for Spirituality in the Rochester Diocese where she is also part of an emerging community, The Companions of Christ. She is originally from Sweden where she was ordained in the Lutheran Church of Sweden but she has lived in England since 1999. She works with Ignatian retreats and formation of spiritual directors in both Scandinavia and the UK.

Jeremy Summerell
Council member

Jeremy Summerell worked for thirty years in primary schools serving as a headteacher for twenty years in three schools. On retiring he joined the Diocese of Ely as an Assistant to the Diocesan Director of Education where he spent five years supporting schools and governing bodies. During this time he trained as a spiritual director with Cambridgeshire Courses in Spiritual Direction (CCSD) and subsequently joined the tutor team in 2013. He is the current Chair of CCSD and represents them on the Council.

Kenneth Boyd Browne
Council member

Kenneth has been a psychotherapist for over 35 years and a Spiritual Director for 14 years. He was Principal Counsellor with Norwich Union Counselling Service and staff counsellor for The Royal London Hospitals Trust. He was formally Administrator for three years of The London Centre for Spirituality and then interim Director. He now is a Spiritual Director and Supervisor and sees people in London at St Marylebone Counselling and Healing Centre and in Kent. He recently studied at Sarum College in Christian Spirituality. He is also training to be a Civil Celebrant.

Kenneth is a keen flower arranger and has developed and facilitated workshops using flowers as a medium into Christian Spirituality. He also enjoys writing poetry and recently has had one of his poems set to choral music.
